Meitech Contributes to the Sisi Nubi AOI Offshore Project with Innovative TRIAS Jackets

On November 10, 2023, PT. MEINDO ELANG INDAH won the Tender for the Sisi Nubi AOI Project package A and package B and was once again entrusted by Pertamina Hulu Mahakam to build 6 offshore platforms with a scope of work covering; Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning (EPCIC). The 6 offshore platforms are; WPS4, WPS5, WPN5, WPN6, WPN7, and WPN8, which will be installed and operated in the Sisi and Nubi area – East Kalimantan.

The scope of work for this project primarily includes:

  1. Fabrication of 6 complete TRIAS Jackets with integrated Boatlandings and Riser Protectors. The first delivery was made on November 6, 2024, and the final delivery on December 22, 2024.
  2. Fabrication of 6 new Topsides, complete with all facilities, equipment, and installations within, including crane pedestals and vent stacks.
  3. Fabrication of 3 Topside extensions to be installed on the existing MWPS, MWPN, and WPN3 platforms.
  4. Installation of the TRIAS Jackets and Topsides offshore at a water depth of approximately 70-80 meters.
  5. Installation of 22 km of subsea pipelines connecting to the new and existing platforms.

The fabrication and installation work for the TRIAS Jackets, Topsides, and Topside extensions is carried out at PT. Meitech Eka Bintan, a subsidiary of PT. Meindo Elang Indah. The fabrication work commenced on December 7, 2025.

Supported by PT. Meitech Eka Bintan's comprehensive and semi-automated facilities, a competent and certified workforce, and an Integrated Management System based on ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards, PT. Meitech Eka Bintan ensures that all work performed complies with technical specifications and Health and Safety (HSE) standards.

The TRIAS Jacket with Suction Pile Foundation (SPF) technology is the first of its kind to be built in the Indonesian Oil and Gas industry, serving as an alternative to conventional technologies such as mud mats and driven piles. Although its fabrication and installation are more difficult and complex, this technology is significantly faster to install compared to the conventional system.

The offshore platforms are built with each Topside weighing approximately 420 tons and each TRIAS Jacket weighing approximately 1000 tons, and are subsequently installed in the Sisi Nubi field, Mahakam working area – East Kalimantan.

All Topside work has been completed and delivered to the installation site using a Flat Top Barge, with the first delivery on April 28, 2025, and the final one on May 16, 2025.

All this fabrication and installation work was carried out involving a total workforce that peaked at over two thousand people, achieving a total of more than 5.8 million safe man-hours without any LTI (Lost Time Injury), calculated since the Steel First Cut on January 10, 2024.

PT. Meitech Eka Bintan has once again demonstrated its active role in the execution and completion of national strategic projects in the Oil and Gas sector, by always prioritizing Health and Safety, and high-quality standards.
